Christmas Baking (from the non-baker)

I have a love-hate relationship with baking. I really enjoy baking simple things like cookies and muffins and bars and am usually successful. And I can most often make a cake or pie taste delicious, but look good? That’s another story. I will not pretend to be a “baker.” But I do love to bake things {as long as it does not involve decorating with icing or crimping a perfect pie crust}.

This afternoon and this evening, I spent some time baking cookies for our neighbors. This is only the second Christmas {out of our married four} that we have actually had neighbors. We live on a quiet street and are blessed with many friendly neighbors. {I kind of feel like I live in the south again!} Last year for Christmas, we took homemade cookies to our eight neighbors along with an invitation to our church’s Christmas program. It was so much fun getting to know the people we live near! We are going to do the same thing tomorrow evening after work. I made four simple cookie recipes. These are not  traditional “Christmas cookies,” just ones I like to make. Maybe you’d like to try one!
